At some point everyone should ask themselves that question. Because, honestly, if you’re not doing what you love—what’s the point in doing it? Potential has never been quicker to tap than today. Even if your job or career isn’t where you want it to be right now, odds are you can do at least one small thing to point them in that direction soon. Education, skills training, job-searching, it’s all right here on the internet. It’s all just a few clicks away.

That’s the beauty of an online workforce: almost anyone can work from almost anywhere in almost anything they want to do.

The era of paper-pushing for the corporate giants is gone. Actually, many of those papers still need to be pushed; but with an ever-flexible marketplace, even the brightest corporations are having a more difficult time finding people to push them. And that problem harkens back to our preluding proposition—if you’re not doing what you love, what’s the point?

It’s a conundrum our team at Metal Potato confronts on a regular basis; we believe that there is no point in doing something you don’t love. So we love what we do.

Our coders love coding. Our designers love designing. Our wordsmiths love smithing…smithying…er…writing. And we are all fueled by the passion of founder Andrew MacDonald, who wheeled away from his keyboard long enough to tell us why it’s so important to build your life around what you love:

“I absolutely love my job, and I love helping businesses achieve their full potential online… I still have clients who haven’t purchased from us in years, call up for a bit of help. We are more than happy to drop everything and help out where we can. And we do not charge for this. Our after-sales support is something I’m immensely proud of.”

The key word there is proud. Are you proud of what you do everyday? If you’re following your passion, you should be.

And if that sounds like corporate mumbo-jumbo, it isn’t. Andrew is a small business owner just like many of you. And like many of your companies, his was started on a dream in a garage with a passion.

That’s an important lesson in doing what you love. Metal Potato is not a giant corporation. We are a small business doing what we believe in—helping other businesses grow. But if you are on the fence about doing what you love, if you really don’t think you—just one person—can make a difference, think again.

In the past three months, Andrew’s dream helped other people’s dreams generate over £100,000 in eCommerce sales. Last year, Metal Potato grew 300%. This year, we’re on track for 700% growth. That’s real money; real growth.

Think about that. That’s something you can do too! It’s out there!

Four years ago Metal Potato was just a note on a piece of paper; a note a lot like the one you wrote down yesterday on the yellow legal pad that’s probably still sitting on your desk.

Did you forget about that note? Did you jot it down between business meetings? Restaurant shifts?

If so, do yourself a favor and pick it up again. Pick up your Metal Potato—whatever your passion is—and keep writing.

There’s never been a better time to start than today. After all, if you’re not doing what you love—what’s the point?
